Non-Destructive Testing of Concretes Structures
To date there are 20 different NDT techniques of evaluating concrete structures, varying from visual to high frequency radar. Each technique has its own set of problems. However non-destructively testing of concrete structures can offer a fast low cost solution and reveal information about the structure that is otherwise difficult or almost impossible to obtain.
After almost two years of research Palmer Tech Group has developed an impact response system to undertake non-destructive testing (NDT) of refractory and concrete structures. As compared to other methods P-ResponseŽ provides a method of analysing structures which has the ability to drastically reduce operating costs.
P-Response® is a system that offers a fast screening method for identifying suspect areas non-destructively as opposed to visual inspection or core drilling. The P-ResponseŽ (patented technology) method can be used to detect; Voiding beneath concrete slabs, walls, spillways and floors; Curling of slabs; Anchoring of panels; Delaminations and honeycombing in bridge decks, slabs, walls and large structures such as dams, chimney stacks and silos; Debonding of overlays (eg asphalt), concrete overlays and patches from concrete substrates; refractory lined vessels and refractory lining stability before entry.
